REVIEW: SPA/LONDA SPA
LOCATION: LONDA HOTEL, 72 GEORGE A STREET, POTAMOS YERMASOYIAS, YERMASOYIA, LEMESOS
What a romantic gift to give
In this world there are girlie girls, girls, and tomboys. I was a tomboy as a kid, now a “girl” as an adult. Feminine, yet able to rugby tackle if the situation arises. Therefore facials, manicures and pedicures only happen for special occasions and the thought of having an all over body massage has honestly never crossed my mind.
When my friend suggested a partner spa treatment to celebrate my husband and I’s 10 year anniversary, we thought it was a great idea. Getting 10 years of hard full time work massaged out of our bodies seemed a perfect and romantic gift to one another.
We chose Londa Spa as we loved the restaurant, and hotel (see the review in the last issue), so figured we may as well love the spa as well.
Situated at the basement of the hotel, Londa Spa’s décor is very clean, calm and basic – the best way to explain it is if a clinic and a Zen resort got together and had a baby… they would name it Londa Spa.
We decided to have the “Revitalizing Therapeutic Body Massage” as it came highly recommended by the manager of the spa.
We were both led to separate warm, dim-lit private rooms with a simple bed and candles placed perfectly to create a relaxing ambience. The separate rooms surprised me – in my mind a partner treatment would be in the same room. However, this meant that I wasn’t thinking of him and whether he was enjoying the massage. This way, I was able to be 100% focussed on me.
There was an option of three lotions (which my masseuse got me to smell and explained their particular benefits). My nerves were immediately put at ease with the masseuse professional manner and treatment and I found myself enjoying the session immediately.
Starting on my back, the masseuse used a combination of pressure and fluid movements. Never once did I feel any pain, however, I noticed my muscles relax slowly while she worked from my back to my arms and hands through to my legs, feet and even toes, all the time making sure that I was covered with the towel and kept warm. Halfway through the session, I was asked to turn over and the towel was used as a curtain so that I didn’t feel exposed. The massage journey then went from my upper chest to my arms and then my legs.
Throughout the massage, I was spared the torture of forced conversations which enabled me to go into a deep relaxation both in mind and body.
After the massage, we both emerged from our rooms at the same time and were shown the relaxation room which had a Sauna, Steam room, Jacuzzi, Plunge pool and refreshments for us. As we lay down on one of the sun lounges feeling relaxed our conversation went as followed;
“Lets do this..”
Relaxed to the point that we couldn’t finish sentences, thank goodness 10 years together has meant that we know what one another is thinking…and thank goodness we have another excuse to treat ourselves –Valentines Day is the best!
